Which camera out of these two?
I'm saving my money for a new camera, but I stuck on which one to get:
Nikon D5000

They are pretty evenly matched, with the Pentax being slightly heavier and no video. But the Pentax does have more lens mounting system options. If I had to choose from the two it would be close, but I would likely choose the Pentax due to previous experience.

Can you use the lens and flash from a vintage super me camera on a canon rebel xt?
If you have a Pentax ME Super 35mm film camera, it uses the Pentax K-mount lenses. Because digital SLRs current Pentax (K20D, K200D, etc) continue to use the K-mount lenses you have for the ME Super is compatible with certain restrictions.
I would hesitate to use the flash without the ME Super SSHSHS WEIN (Safe-Sync Hot Shoe to Hot Shoe, Part # 990560), since the voltage of flash for the ME may be too high and fry the circuits of the DSLR.
Pentax has made a Super 35 mm camera and ME if the camera you ask me, then no.
Use only lens Canon Rebel's made for EOS cameras.Even the older Canon lenses (manufactured before 1985) will not work on the Rebel's
My research shows that there is no digital SLR from Pentax, which will use the old lenses ... if they were "K" mount lenses so they would fit the new digital SLRs Pentax
