    42 Inch Panasonic Plasma

Let me preface this by saying that I was a television engineer for over 21 years and have been matters related electronics for more than 40 years in total. I am picky!

My first condition is a plasma screen, offset, even the best LCD / LED TV make me crazy. Many people can not see this and I'm fine with that. A bonus with the plasma display is the large off-axis, which means that the image is good since the seats on the side as it does in my comfortable chair to direct.

A second precondition was 1080p, or so I thought. My preferred viewing position is 12 feet from screen to eyes.At 3 feet, real 1080p Blu-ray does not look better on a Sony GXDL52H1 1080p screen that has the TC-P50X1 720p. But at 10 feet, the differences were not so obvious, and at 12 feet, I could live with difference. When you consider that the Sony is $ 4200 vs. $ 700 for the Panasonic, the choice became obvious. It is just TV people!

You will notice that television broadcasting is 1080i, 720i otherwise. This will be a while before you can obtain the full benefit of 1080p. I tell myself when the time comes, I'll pass it to the den and buy 1080p. Perhaps by then the prices have dropped, too.

Samsung NX210 and NX20 now available, NX1000 to ship in June for $700

Timing couldn't be more unfortunate for Samsung's NX line, considering that Sony upped the stakes earlier today with its NEX-F3, the successor to the wildly-popular NEX-C3, which is priced to sell at $600 with an 18-55mm kit lens.
